User guide
Learn how to use the service.
1. Shorten a URL as a guest
Shorten a URL directly from the home page.
- Enter the original URL.
- Enter your preferred short code using Korean or English letters and numbers.
- Choose an expiration: 24 hours, 48 hours, 1 week, or 1 month.
- Select the Create short link button.
2. Share text
Choose Text sharing on the home page to share long text through a short address.
3. Share files
Share documents, images, and archives such as ZIP files with a short link. Files upload directly to Cloudflare R2, up to 5 GB.
- Supported: PDF, Office, HWP, TXT/HTML/MD/CSV, images (PNG/JPG/GIF/WebP), archives (ZIP/7Z/TAR/GZ/RAR), and more. Zip executable files before sharing.
- Retention and automatic deletion by size:
- Up to 10 MB (standard): Deleted automatically after 30 days. Guests can choose an expiration; the default for these files is 30 days.
- Over 10 MB to 1 GB (large): Deleted automatically after 7 days to manage storage resources.
- Over 1 GB to 5 GB (extra large): Deleted automatically after 2 days to manage large-file storage.
- Member file-sharing benefits: Your short address remains permanent. When file retention ends, downloads stop and the stored file is deleted, but the address remains. Upload a new file through Edit to restart the download period.
4. Permanent member short links
Sign up with Google and choose your code to create permanent URL and text links. File-sharing addresses remain while file retention and replacement follow section 3 above.
- Sign up with Google or sign in.
- Create a short link from the home page or dashboard.
- Your URL uses the form “zipn.app/username/code”.
- Manage all your links from the dashboard.
5. Use the dashboard
After signing in, your dashboard lets you:
- Create URL, text, and file-sharing links
- View existing links
- Check click statistics for each link
- Copy, edit, and delete links
- Change your code once every 30 days. Existing addresses stop working immediately, and your previous code is released.
6. Use QR codes
A QR code is generated automatically with your short link. Use it in teaching materials, printouts, or presentations.
7. Share websites (HTML / ZIP)
- Choose Website (HTML) on the home page.
- Select an HTML file or upload a ZIP containing index.html, CSS, JavaScript, and images. You can also paste code directly.
- Choose a short code and select Create website link.
Websites support up to 10 MB, including the total uncompressed ZIP size, and up to 500 files. An index.html must be at the root or within one common folder. Subfolders, relative paths, and standard /assets/ paths are supported.
For React or Vite, zip the built dist folder. Exclude node_modules, environment files (.env), and server source. Node.js/PHP servers and server-side rendering are not executed. Use hash routing for SPAs.
ZIP websites run in an isolated environment to protect login information. Cookies, localStorage, and service workers are unavailable; external APIs must allow CORS. Permanent member links remain until deleted, while temporary links expire after the selected period. Replace HTML or ZIP files from your dashboard.
8. Use the API
Developers can shorten URLs programmatically. For details, see the API documentation.
